What is a Resource Teacher?

The Resource Teacher...

  • is a qualified Early Childhood Educator with a Resource Teacher Training Certificate who is a member in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators
  • will be provided to any Co-operative Preschool in the City of Hamilton, based on availability, when a child with special needs is identified
  • works together with parents, preschool staff, community professionals
  • makes regular home visits
  • plans regular team meetings to review your child's progress
  • connects with health and social service agencies to ensure a variety of services for the child and family
  • provides assistance with transitions to other programs (summer programs, school entry)
  • is available to complete a developmental screen with parent permission on any child in a Co-operative Preschool
  • is available to address parent groups
